Honda to sell new small hybrid next year

Honda will sell a new, improved and affordable gas-electric hybrid in the U.S., Japan and Europe starting in early 2009, underlining the Japanese automaker's commitment to "green" technology, the company president said Wednesday. The new model _ to be sold solely as a hybrid, and not as a traditional, gasoline-powered car _ is a key part of Honda Motor Co.'s strategy for the next three years that President Takeo Fukui outlined at Tokyo headquarters. The plan also included production innovations and expansion in Japan to cut costs so Honda can stay competitive amid soaring material and energy costs, he said.

The government is considering a move that could raise the Petrol prices by Rs 16 - 17 a litre. Petrol is currently being sold at a loss of Rs 16.34 a litre and diesel at Rs 23.49 per litre. Deregulating petrol price would mean that its prices would move in tandem with international prices. The continuous hike in international oil prices touched an all time high fo 135 dollars a barrel last week. It has forced the government to press the panick button.
VW Scirocco GT24
Volkswagen is presenting the racing version of the Scirocco GT24 at Wörther Lake in a world premiere. The 325 PS Scirocco will also be driven during the race by legendary drivers like rally world champion Carlos Sainz and Hans-Joachim Stuck, three-time winner of the 24-hour Nürburgring race. Incidentally, "Striezel" Stuck won the very first 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in 1970.

Now, thirty-eight years later, the Scirocco GT24 is competing. It draws its power from only two litres displacement: the 16-valve direct injection engine with a turbocharger and intercooler delivers its maximum torque of 340 Newton metres beginning from only 2,100 rpm. Gear changes are executed by a dual clutch gearbox (DSG), which is also available for the production model.

Mahindra to acquire stake in Kinetic Motor
Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to acquire a 76% stake in two wheeler maker Kinetic Motor Company for an estimated 120 crore rupees, for which it has signed up a term sheet and was doing due dilligence, sources have reported. The deal could frutify in the next two months. Kinetic Motor's Managing Director Sulajja Firodia declined to comment on it, saying this is completely speculative. Kinetic Motor company is seeking fund infusions to the tune of Rs. 125 Crores and is looking at both financial institutions and staretegic investors, which would help the company to return to profit.
