Hyundai Gets ‘Niryat Shree’ Award
Hyundai Motor India Limited, India's largest car exporter and second largest auto maker, received Niryat Shree ESilver Trophy for the year 2005-06 at the award function organized by the Federation of Indian Export Organization.
Hyundai received the award from FIEO for its outstanding performance in export in the Engineering and Metallurgical products under the Non-SSI category. Ashok Jha, President, HMIL, received the award from the Honorable President of India, Smt. Pratibha Patil at the glittering award ceremony organized by FIEO.
"We are honoured and delighted to receive this award. We understand the critical role of exports in bridging the country's trade gaps. The honour accentuates our endeavour to be one of the major contributors to India's rapidly growing economy, playing our part in India's growth as a manufacturer as well as an exporter," said Jha, on the occasion.

Maruti Suzuki to ship Nissan Pixo by March
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd , India's leading car maker, expects to begin shipping its Pixo (A-star) small car to Nissan from February-March for sale in Europe, Maruti's managing director said on Wednesday.
Shinzo Nakanishi, however, said Maruti was yet to agree on the exact volume of cars it would supply to Nissan. Maruti, 54.2 percent owned by Japan's Suzuki Motor Corp , hopes to boost sales in the next three months following price cuts, he added.

Ford India to Bring All New Fiesta Sedan in 2010
Ford may be facing tough times back home in the US but the Indian operations remain unaffected. The company has decided to go ahead with its scheduled plans in India. It is building a small car based on earlier generation of Fiesta hatchback model.
Ford showcased its new Fiesta sedan built on verve platform at the Ghangzou Auto Show in China. It intends to build its new sedan across Asia in China, India and Thailand. The car will make its debut in India by late 2010. According to the company, additional variations of the four-door sedan will be available across Asia and North America.

Volkswagen all set to roll out cars from Chakan plant by April 2009
Volkswagen is getting ready to roll out cars from its Chakan plant by April 2009. The deadline has been pre-poned nearly a year ahead of its schedule. The decision from the company comes as a result of increase in VW Group's sales despite the ongoing slump in the Indian auto market. The company has registered a 66 percent growth this year from the month of January to October.

The new production unit in Chakan will roll out Fabia next April as its first batch. Skoda Fabia is currently being manufactured at the Group's Aurangabad plant operated by Skoda Auto. This plant also manufactures VW Jetta , Passat, Skoda Fabia, Laura and Superb.
The company had announced investments of Rs. 3500 crores in 2006 out of which Rs. 2650 crores have been invested in the Chakan plant. The new plant at Chakan will have a capacity of manufacturing 110,000 units annually when it is complete.
