The Fastest Ever Road Going Ferrari Unveiled – 599 GTO

Ferrari has released pics and specs of the new 599 GTO, a V12-engined supercar that's supposed to be the Italian company's fastest ever road-going machine. Inspired by the 599XX concept car, the 599 GTO will be produced in limited numbers - only 599 units of this car will be built.

Fitted with a 6.0-litre V12, the Ferrari 599 GTO packs an impressive 670 horsepower and 620Nm of torque, which allows it to accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 3.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 335km/h! And with race-spec carbon-ceramic brakes, the car stops just as hard as it goes, taking just 32.5 metres to come to a complete halt from a speed of 100km/h.

The 599 GTO, which weighs just 1,495kg dry, rolls on 20-inch wheels, has a six-speed gearbox with paddle shifters and comes equipped with a high-tech 'Magnetorheological' supension control system for the ultimate in high speed handling prowess.

Ferrari 458 Italia Unvieled

The new upcoming Ferrari 458 Italia is a completely new car from every point of view: engine, design, aerodynamics, handling, instrumentation and ergonomics, just to name a few.

A two-seater berlinetta, the Ferrari 458 Italia, as is now traditional for all Ferrari's road-going cars, benefits hugely from the company's Formula 1 experience. Once again input from Michael Schumacher - who was involved from the very start of the 458 Italia project - played an invaluable part.

The new 4499 cc V8 is the first Ferrari direct injection engine to be mid-rear mounted. It has a very low piston compression height typical of racing engines which contributed to achieving its compression ratio of 12.5:1. Maximum torque is 540 Nm at 6000 rpm, over 80 per cent of which is available from 3250 rpm. Specific torque is a record 120 Nm/litre. However, what is truly extraordinary is the amount of torque available while still maintaining high levels of power at low revs. The company claims the car has an efficiency of around 7km/l.

The 458 Italia is equipped with the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission which increases performance whilst providing very smooth shifts even at full throttle. The engineers have developed specific, sportier gear ratios to match the power and torque curves of the new V8, guaranteeing high torque even at lower engine speeds and allowing the car to reach its maximum speed in top gear.

The Ferrari 458 Italia's performance: 0-100 km/h acceleration in under 3.4 seconds and a maximum speed in excess of 325 km/h. For the new chassis, once more in aluminium, Maranello's engineers incorporated various types of advanced alloys along with aerospace industry-derived manufacturing and bonding techniques.

F149 GT revealed to be new Ferrari California!

Ferrari has unveiled the name of the F149, and as expected its called the Ferrari California. The engine under the hood is a 4.3 liter V8 engine making 460 PS at 7,500rpm, which is quite an impressive state of tune because as compared to BMW's new V8 in the M3, the Ferrari engine produces a similiar horsepower to liter ratio but achieves the horsepower at about 1,000rpm lower. Other neat tricks Ferrari has used to extract the most power out of this engine include direct injection and a "flat crankshaft".
