Force Motors to Launch Explorer SUV In April 2011
Commercial motor vehicle manufacturer Force Motors is launching its Explorer SUV in India in April 2011. The Pune based car maker is shifting its focus on vehicles for rural and semi-urban markets to the mainstream traveler car market. The seven seater SUV will be priced in the choice of Rs. 12 lakh-Rs.15 lakh. Force Motors SUV Explorer has occupied with Lotus Engineering, the legendary British firm for driving dynamics, to develop the ride and handling of this “personalized” SUV. The company hopes this Sports Utility Vehicle can do for them what the Scorpio did for Mahindra.

The new Force Motors SUV could be motorized by a 2.2-litre engine built under certificate from Daimler. According to some information, this engine will belt out a very impressive power of 220 bhp. NVH levels will also be taken care of by foreigner consultant. Initially Force Motors may present the new SUV only in rear-wheel drive variants. However, owing to the demand for 4WD (4 Wheel Drive) SUVs, we can also assume the 4WD version of the SUV later. Production of the SUV will take place at the Force Motors plant at Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh. It has to be noted that the Pithampur plant also manufactures the Man Force range of trucks. Force Motors, formerly known as Bajaj Tempo currently makes the Tempo Traveller and Trax vehicles in India.
