The mother plant at 'Haryana' would be the 1st manufacturing unit of any supermotorcycle maker in Indian market & will export to Asian counties as well. HD sold 250 unit of its best motorbikes in just six months. With the local manufacturing, Harley Davidson Bikes can anticipate to more than quadruple which figure.
Bookings for Harley Davidson new bikes starts from tomorrow
Bookings for the Harley Davidson Superlow and the Harley Davidson Iron 883 is going to start from January 1st, 2010; the bikes have price tag of Rs. 550000 and Rs. 650000 in India, respectively. Harley Davidson, the US based two-wheeler manufacturing company, has announced the launch of these two cruiser bikes for India and going to start booking from tomorrow. All these bikes are imported through CBU totally built units) route and have hefty price tag. Recently the company has announced to set-up it assembling plant in Bawal, Haryana; and the two new bikes to be assembled here thus have low cost than other Harley Davidson models.
The recently announced first bike is Harley Davidson Iron 883, it is powerful motorcycle that has been loaded with 883 CC, twin V2 and 4 strokes style engine. It also has amazing features for excellent performance. This powerful engine of the bike generates top Torque of 70 Nm at the rate of 3750 Rpm. The second announced bike is Harley Davidson Super low which is also equipped with powerful 883 CC and twin V2 type mill. This solid powerplant of the bike is corporated with self adjusting lifters and air cooled technology that offer almost same power and torque as Iron 883. Both the bikes are features rich and have eye-catching appearance in the segment.
Harley Devidson now start at Rs 5.5 lakh
Harley Davidson is kicking off its CKD offerings in India from the 1st of January 2011. Harley Davidson range will now start from a price tag of Rs 5.5 lakh for the Sportster Super Low, while the Sportster 883 Iron is priced at Rs 6.5 lakh ex-showroom Delhi.
Harley aficionados certainly have much to rejoice as the new price tags are sure to add to the appeal of the Harleys as well as being them within the reach of many more. Harley Davidson concluded the Grand Finale of Harley Rock Riders, the unique annual rock music property at Hamsadhwani Theatre, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. In its first year, Harley Davidson Rock Riders kick started a rock music revolution in the country with a five city tour across its five dealership cities of New Delhi, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Bangalore. Harley Davidson To Assemble Bikes in India
Harley Davidson India has confirmed that the company is going to start assembling of bikes in India which will help them to reduce the prices of the models on sale in india. Currently the Harley Davidson bikes are priced between Rs 700000 to 3500000 and once the CKD facility kicks-off, the prices of select bike models could be slashed by around 25 per cent!
“We are delighted to announce the Company’s plans to establish assembly operations in India,” said Harley-Davidson Motor Company President and Chief Operating Officer Matthew S. Levatich. “CKD assembly operations are a natural next step for Harley-Davidson as we increase our ability to meet the needs of India’s consumers.” Levatich said, “This investment will allow Harley-Davidson to improve our market responsiveness and production flexibility while reducing the tariff burden, which we expect will drive growth over time by making our bikes more accessible to India’s consumers. Given the strong response we have received in the initial months of retail operations, we believe this is the right investment for this important market.”
The company is currently importing all the bikes in form of CBUs. Once the completely knocked down assembly facility becomes operational in Haryana, they will import CKD kits for some models, consisting of components produced by company’s U.S. plants in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Missouri. Factory workers at the Haryana facility will then assemble the components into finished motorcycles. Rest of the models will continue to be imported as CBUs for now. The CKD assembly facility should be operational in the first half of 2011. India will be the 2nd country in which Harley-Davidson has CKD assembly operations outside America.

Harley-Davidson India today announced the launch of its unique music property - Harley Rock Riders, an annual music platform which will bring together motorcycling and music, honoring Harley-Davidson's historic association with Rock & Roll and its legends.
