Audi A4 sells better in Germany than the BMW 3-Series

2008 was a successful year for Audi. In addition to selling over one million cars, they also managed to sell the new A4 better in their home market than BMW did with their 3-Series. BMW still leads Audi globally as they managed to sell 1.12 million cars in 2008. It is very likely that Audi will outsell BMW globally this year.

Despite beating BMW in Germany, the new A4 was not the most frequently bought model in 2008. First place went to the Volkswagen Golf. Audi managed to sell 98,714 A4 models making it the most successful premium class model. The Audi A6 also topped its segment with 45,304 registrations. The second generation of the Audi TT design icon was registered 10,630 times in Germany - making it the most successful sports car in Germany in 2008.
