Honda Indias sales jump 26.38 percent during Dec 2010

Honda Siel Cars India Ltd (HSCIL), the Indian unit of Japanese auto giant Honda, reported a 26.38 % growth in its sales in December 2010. The company sold a total of 5,135 vehicles of its cars during this month as compared to 4,063 vehicles sold in the same month last year. As per the data released by the company, its December sales were 4,380 vehicles of its best selling sedan Honda City, 269 vehicles of premium hatchback Jazz, 275 of premium sedan Civic and 26 vehicles of Honda CR-V.



Meanwhile, the company is working on its plans to launch its first ever small car – Honda Brio – in the Indian market in the last quarter of year 2011. The Brio model is expected to be placed in the price segment of sub Rs 5 lakh where it will be competing with the likes of Maruti Swift, Fiat Punto, Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo, Nissan Micra and Chevrolet Beat.


At present, HSCIL’s sells five car models in the Indian market that comprises of hatchback Honda Jazz, entry level sedan Honda City, premium sedan Honda Civic, luxury sedan Honda Accord and luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) Honda CR-V.
