Maruti Suzuki to Open New Showrooms

India’s largest automobile company is now having make-over of sort. Maruti Suzuki India Limited is going upmarket for its premium sedan Kizashi model. The Maruti Kizashi, to be launched on February 2, 2011 across the country, is the costliest auto from the company for Indian market. So, the corporation is targeting upmarket cash-rich clients by opening some far above the ground class showrooms in the metros of the country. Last year saw Maruti Suzuki’s market share dropped below 50% for the first time in history. The company has decided to make some radical changes in its distribution plan due to strong competition from newly launched international cars. According some news Maruti Suzuki has spent Rs 50-60 crore each to purchase properties in posh locations like Lokhandwala in Mumbai’s Andheri and Indraprastha in middle Delhi. As we know, places like Lokhandwala has become shopping paradise for rich individuals lately with large malls and lavishness car showrooms. The company, which plans to buy another 12 properties across metros, built plush outlets in five of its personal properties and recently handed them to maruti dealers, departing from its traditional model of outsourcing distribution to private franchisees.
