Auction for seized Superbikes
Auction for seized superbikes which was decided to take place on 10Th January'2011 is further late so as to attract some more bike enthusiasts. sale of 13 superbikes in the country together with bikes from Harley Davidson, Suzuki Hayabusa and Honda CBR1000RR is decided by the DRI and only the ones registered with MSTC are allowed to participate. The registration is complete quite easy being that the ones interested have to pay a nominal cost and can attend the auction. A sum of eightyfour bikes were seized by DRI in year 2009 for the spare parts of motorcycles were being smuggled into the country and were reassembled here in some focused garages of Mumbai and Pune. It is known that Nadar Ali with a team of five other associates used to smuggle the parts from Singapore.

Ali experienced a excellent comeback from consumers keeping a low cost of just Rs 11 lakh for these assembled bikes which if legally smuggled would have costed for Rs. 17 lakh. Reason being for seizing bikes was that these were sold to unsupposed consumers and now the owners are to pay an import tax of 15 percent and an amount equal to that of penalty to acquire their bikes again. According to this out of whole 84, 64 motorbikes have been back to their owners after the payment of above mentioned penalty. Also a buggy was seized by the agency which now have been returned to the holder after being payments made to DRI.
