Gogoi says no to Nano

"I don't want to burn my fingers," was Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi's refrain when asked whether he will offer land to Tata Motors to set up a Nano plant. Gogoi said his state does not have enough land and acquisition of land for big industries would be a "big problem".

"Practically speaking my state does not have enough land to set up a big industry like the Tata's Nano project. Besides, acquisition of land will be a big problem," he said here.

Tata Motors, which has been facing stiff resistance at its Nano plant at Singur, has been offered land by several states in case the industrial house decides to pull out of West Bengal.
