Toyota aims to launch its first electric car by 2012
Toyota Motor Corp. is planning to launch its first battery-powered electric car in the US, by 2012. This EV will be based on the iQ, Toyota's revolutionary new small car that's already on sale in Japan.
With tightening emissions norms and fuel prices that are sure to keep moving upwards in the long term, Toyota is now committed to developing mainstream EVs that are smaller and more efficient than existing cars. The very first Toyota electric car will be able to seat four people and travel at least 100km on one full battery charge.
