Hyundai to Ramp up Production by 18 percent in 2009
Hyundai, India's second-largest car maker is planning to boost its production by over 18 per cent in the current year. Hyundai Motor India is targeting a 10 per cent jump in sales and expects a revival in the market in the second half of 2009.
The Korean automobile giant is planning to launch its sports utility vehicle (SUV), the Santa Fe, in India next year. Moreover, it is exploring possibilities to roll out a smaller car than the Hyundai Santro in the Indian market. The company will also start producing diesel engines by 2010.
"In the first half of 2009, the domestic market was flat, but we are seeing positive signs of revival of the market and we are expecting it to pick up in the second half. Our target is to produce 5.8 Lakh units in 2009," said Hyundai Motor India Managing Director and CEO Heung Soo Lheem.
The company had produced 4.9 Lakh units last year out of a total installed capacity of 6 lakh units a year. Lheem added, "Our exports grew by over 22 per cent in the first half. We expect to maintain the same rate and are targeting to sell three lakh units in the overseas markets. We are also hoping that the domestic market will surely improve." He also said Hyundai is aiming to close the year with an overall jump of about 10 per cent.

BMW to launch Mini Cooper in India
BMW India plans to launch its Mini brand in India by the end of 2009. The new Mini cooper was launched across the globe a few days back.
The company plans to launch the Mini in India as well. BMW India will get the Roadster Z4 to India too. This could cost anywhere between Rs 50 - 80 lakh.
The company also has plans to launch its X1 in India next year. BMW had unveiled the X1 as a concept car in the Paris Motor Show and now the car could be Indian road ready by next year.

Audi India sales up by 165% in June
Audi has reported an increase of 165% in its sales in India during June 2009, at 204 units, as compared to 77 units sold in June 2008.
With this, Audi's sales tally in India for the first six months of 2009 stands at 821 cars, a growth of 75% over last year, when it sold 470 cars during the first six months.

Yamaha Motor India Sales up 84.3% in June 2009
IYamaha Motors India has registered a growth of 84.3% in its sales during June 2009, at 17,878 units, as against 9,699 units in June 2008. Ever since IYM launched the YZF-R15 and FZ16 bikes last year, its sales have shown an upward trend.
And in keeping with its newfound performance focus, the company recently launched high-performance race-spec parts for these two bikes. They are also planning to launch a new bike based on FZ series, it will feature full front fairing like the R15.

Mahindra’s sales up 18.72% in June 2009
Mahindra & Mahindra has reported an 18.72% growth in its total automotive sales in June, at 22,999 units, compared with 19,371 units in June last year. Domestic sales during the month stood at 22,526 units as against 18,179 units in the year-ago period, an increase of 23.91%. Exports, however, were down by 60.32% at 473 units during June this year, as compared to 1,192 units in June 2008.
M&M's sales of utility vehicles in June 2009 registered a growth of 56.07% at 17,653 units, as against 11,311 units in June 2008. On the other hand, three-wheeler sales declined by 22.74% at 3,357 units, as compared to 4,345 units in June last year.
LCV sales were also down 13.4%, at 1,015 units in June 2009, as compared to 1,172 units in June 2008. The Mahindra-Renault Logan continued its dismal performance, with just 501 units being sold in June this year, as compared to 1,351 units in June 2008.

TVS Motor’s sales up by 6% in June 2009
TVS Motor Company has posted a 6% increase in two-wheeler sales during June this year, at 115,488 units, as against 109,082 units in June 2008. During June 2009, TVS sold 105,361 units in the domestic market, compared to 94,072 units during June last year - an increase of 12%.
TVS's scooter sales also registered a significant increase, going up from 21,466 units in June 2008 to 25,945 units in June this year. Total motorcycle sales, meanwhile, were down to 46,048 units in June 2009 as compared to 51,409 units in June 2008. Exports also came down from 15,010 units during June last year to 10,087 units in June this year.

BMW India Targets To Sell 3000 Cars In 2009
After holding the numero uno spot in the luxury car segment for the last few months, BMW India is chalking out robust plans to retain its position and is aiming to sell nearly 3,000 units for this calendar year.
BMW India has already sold close to 1,700 cars by the end of June, is firming up plans to double its dealership network to 24 by next year.
BMW plans to add 10 dealers in semi-urban areas like Coimbatore, Jaipur, Lucknow and Ludhiana, and a host of others, besides adding two showrooms in Gurgaon and West Delhi.
BMW has also lined up multiple roll-outs for the next few years, which includes the new 3 Series, X3 diesel, Z4 Roadster. BMW has also tied up with ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank for financing its cars.

Maruti Suzuki sales up 22.63% in June 2009
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. has reported a 22.63% hike in sales in June this year, at 75,109 units, as against 61,247 units June 2008. June 2009 was the sixth consecutive month when Maruti's sales crossed the 70,000 units mark.
Sales in the domestic market grew by 9.51% to 61,773 units in June 2009, up from 56,411 units in the year-ago period. Exports in the same month went up to 13,336 units, compared to 4,836 units in June last year. Maruti's sales in the A3 segment (SX4 and DZire) were up by 5%, at 6,099 units, compared to 5,807 units in June 2008.
Sales of the Maruti 800 went down by 54.52% in June this year, at 2,438 units, as against 5,361 units in June 2008. However, sales of A2 segment cars (Alto, Wagon R, Zen Estilo, Swift, A-Star and Ritz) went up by 22.21%, at 46,156 units, as against 37,767 units in June last year.

HMIL logs 8.36% hike in cumulative sales in May 2009
Hyundai Motor India saw a decline of 4.11% in domestic sales during May 2009, at 23,503 units, as against 24,510 units sold during May 2008.
However, the company's cumulative sales (including exports) during the month were up by 8.36%, at 43,628 units, as against 40,261 units in the year-ago period. HMIL exported 20,125 units during May this year, as against 15,751 units May last year - an increase of 27.77%.
HMIL sold 39,864 units of the Santro, Getz Prime and i10, 3,735 units of the Accent and Verna, 27 units of the Sonata Transform and two units of the Tucson during May this year.

M&M FES logs 43% hike in cumulate sales in May 2009
During May 2009, Mahindra & Mahindra's farm equipment sector (FES) logged total sales (domestic + exports) of 13,500 units, as against 9,470 units sold during May last year - an increase of 43%. Exports during the month were 630 units, as against 645 units during May last year.
The company sold 12,870 tractors during May 2009, as against 8,825 units during May last year - an increase of 46%. M&M is now in the process of implementing new marketing strategy for its tractors, where it will position Swaraj-branded products from Punjab Tractors Ltd. (which M&M merged into itself last year) at the lower end of its portfolio, while M&M's own tractors will be positioned at the higher end.
M&M and PTL tractors will be sold via separate sales channels and will not share dealer networks, though the company will explore all possible synergies in areas like sourcing of components, R&D and manufacturing.
