Honda Launches CBR250R in India

Mumbai, March 22, 2011: Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI), the 100% owned 2-wheeler subsidiary of the Honda Motor Company, Japan – the world’s largest manufacturer of 2-wheelers, shall release its long awaited global Road-Sport motorcycle “CBR250R” in April, 2011. Honda’s first affordable global sports bike - CBR250R marks the Company’s entry in high performance 250cc segment in India. CBR250R will have the largest engine displacement of any vehicle produced by HMSI. Taking India to the global platform, CBR250R will be exclusively manufactured and exported worldwide from India &Thailand.

Background - Honda’s development team realized that riders now want much more and demand for 250cc models is higher than ever. Based on understanding customer needs, the goal was to create a 250cc model that can meet the bring the fun of riding to riders of all kinds, ranging from entry level riders who aspire to upgrade to seasoned riders who already have the large motorcycle experience. Thus came Honda CBR250R- the perfect companion of riding enthusiasts who desire ‘To Know the Unknown.’

Lightning Performance - The newly developed liquid-cooled 250cc 4-stroke 4-valve single-cylinder DOHC engine of CBR250R delivers excellent performance of 25 BHP and is easy to handle.

Advanced Technology - With 27 pending patented technologies, CBR250R is a bike of many technological firsts. CBR250R is world first in high performance 250cc category incorporating Combined ABS . Making CBR250R more Eco-Friendly are the electronically controlled fuel injection system PGM-FI , O sensor and catalyzer which meet Euro 3 Emission standards.

Global Styling - Inspired from Honda’s global fun bikes VFR 1200F and CBR 1000RR Fireblade, the sporty full-cowl body and distinguishing Y-shaped headlights of CBR 250R present a highly advanced design full of functional beauty. The aerodynamic layered style fairing and cowl design enables optimal control of wind both for engine cooling and ride comfort. Upping the style quotient of the bike are 5 spoke aluminum cast wheels, tubeless tyres, stylish rear grip and sporty split seat. Lending a futuristic effect is the brilliant blue LCD backlit instrument panel while completing the feel & sound are the elegant triangular muffler and compact exhaust system.

High on Comfort & Convenience - CBR250R’s slim and compact single-cylinder engine reduces front projection and provides abundance of comfort through telescopic front suspension with 130mm stroke and highly flexible seating position. Hero Honda Launches New Karizma R

Hero Honda India has unveiled the 2011 model of New Hero Honda Karizma R which features new, clear lens turn indicators, graphics, black theme for engine and redesigned engine cowl. Other than these modifications 2011 New Karizma R is similar in conditions of engine power and technology. New Hero Honda Karizma R looks very modish with black mag alloy wheel, double light tailpiece, new fairing, clear lens front indicators, stepped up seat, silencer unit and panel shapes. Aprilia Planning to launch RSV4 Factory in India

Aprilia will present the RSV4 Factory on the 20th of January, 2011. Powered by a 65-degree 999.6 cc, V-4 engine, the company’s first production four-cylinder engine produces maximum power of 177 hp at 12,500 rpm with maximum torque of115 Nm at 10,000 Rpm. The Aprilia RSV4 Factory weighs in at 179kgs thanks to carbon fiber and features twin 320 mm diameter suspended discs with Brembo monobloc radial 4-piston calipers at the front and 220 milimetre diameter disc with Brembo 2-piston calipers at the rear. The first Aprilla outlet will be at Pune and the motorbike RSV4 Factory is expected to cost around Rs. 18 lakhs.

Ducati Corse has released the first pictures of Valentino Rossi

Ducati Corse has released the first pictures of Valentino Rossi in their colours, posing with his Desmosedici GP11 bike at their annual pre-season 'Wroom' event. Rossi has retained the flouroscent green colour on his leathers but its a fashion calamity combined with Ducati's red. And his Bike has it too! The figure '46' on the nose is of course flouro-green along with the seat border, tank and the tail piece.

Nicky Hayden meanwhile has matching the red with black this year. The AMG logo is also present on both Rossi and Nicky hayden's bike and leathers. The bright livery of Rossi's motorbike is a reminisce of his wild paintjobs during the 125cc and 250cc days with Aprilia. Hope he rides so too.

BMW S1000RR is IBOTY 2011

BMW Motorrad’s S1000RR has won The International motorbike of The Year award 2010-2011, in its 26th year. Adjudicators members representing 14 magazines, including Autocar India, came together across the globe to determine the best of all motorcycles launched through the year. This IBOTY prize is the icing on the cake for BMW, after a jubilant debut year in the aggressive sportsbike segment, and is BMW’s third International Bike Of The Year victory.

BMW R1200GS won last IBOTY in 2004. The flexible and path-breaking Ducati Multistrada 1200 S has come in a deserving second this year, with the Honda VFR 1200F DCT and Yamaha Super Ténéré tied in third place. The latest IBOTY winner was described by jury members as: “The BMW S1000RR combines wounding edge technology, presentation and ease of use. At the same time it is a bike that works specially well on both road and track. Furthermore the BMW S1000RR represents a breakthrough for the combination of electronics to create a safer and more engaging ride.”

Ferrari celebrates 999th car sold in China

Celebrating Johnson Zhang, the 999th consumer Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa said: “For Ferrari, China represents the present and the future. It is a great country where we continue to spend. I’m convinced that in a couple of years, we’ll reach sales of 500 cars per year, a number equivalent to developed European markets.”

The show started with around twenty Ferraris in front of the Oriental Pearl Tower and ended with a celebration dinner, in the company of Ferrari Asia Pacific CEO Edwin Fenech, Amedeo Felisa and many clients. Amongst them were many Ferrari owners under the age of 40: new entrepreneurs who, as a symbol of their achievement, were able to realise their ambition of owning a dream car that is the symbol of Italy itself: a Ferrari. After Johnson Zhang symbolically twisted the key of his Ferrari 458 Italia, illuminating a screen with the number 999, he said: “It is a great honour for me to be here today. With this ferrari I made a dream come true. I’m happy that I can feel this very special moment for China. For me Ferrari is the symbol of success and the brand’s values are a flash for the upcoming goals I want to achieve.”

Ducati’s new Facility to be set in Thailand

The charges for cars and bikes in India will be increase by 10 percent

As per the most recent decisions of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of the country, motor insurance costs are to be increased in the coming months after approval. The charges for cars and bikes in India will be increase by 10 percent while that for trucks will increase around 80 percent of the present insurance amount. For a sub 1000 cc vehicle, it will increase from Rs 670 to Rs 740, for cars of up to 1500 cc, an increase of around Rs 80 is decided, while that for trucks weighing up to 7500 Kg, the premium will rise from Rs 5,580 to Rs 10,040. The amendments with insurance prices are to be done considering the fact that the third party motor insurance faced a shortage that could touch Rs 2000 crores. The superbikes like Yamaha VMAX, Suzuki GSXR 1000, Suzuki Hayabusa will attract more insurance amount than commuter bikes like Hero Honda Splendor, Bajaj Discover, TVS Star.

The idea have been proposed by IRDA for third party motor insurance-the cover which compensates crash victims and is to be made compulsory for all vehicle owners. January 17Th is decided to be the final deadline for getting comments from all stake holders and the changes will then be confirmed. After the completion of all kind of formalities, the new insurance costs will be disclosed officially by IRDA. Also it is known that IRDA suggested the country's government to reintroduce the concept of limited liability which was discontinued in the year 1988.
