Suzuki gets 78 percent growth in December 2010

Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. has reported sales growth of 78 percent in the month of December as compared to December 2009. Suzuki Motorcycle is one of the leading two-wheeler manufacturing company in India that has every segment bikes in it's stable from entry-level, commuter and superbikes in India. The company has sold 25,837 units of two wheelers as compared to 14549 units in the same month of year 2009. This is a great achievement for the company this year.

According to corporation the Suzuki Slingshot is doing well in the market and getting a huge response. Other bikes which supported the sales comprise suzuki gs150r, Suzuki Access 125 (Scooter) while Suzuki GSX R and Suzuki Bandit are also attracting buyers. The total sale of the Suzuki two-wheelers is 25,837 in December 2010 which is 2 percent more then last month; the total sales of November 2010 was 25439. After the split between Hero-Honda, the company hopes that its bikes sale will increase considerably and by the year of 2011, it will get respectable amount of market share. The present portfolio of the company comprises of Suzuki Gladius, Suzuki Gs, Suzuki Hayabusa, Suzuki Access and five variants of Suzuki Slingshot.

MotoGP coming to India in just two years

MotoGP World Championship might be organised in India by the year 2012. MotoGP is the world's famous bike racing programme which is organising in developed countries but now India might see it within two years. Jaypee Sports International a venture of Jaypee group is interested to organise this championship in India and is in talk with Madri-based Dorna. Dorna is the exclusive holder of all commercial and TV right of the MotoGP world Championship. After added in the F1 race calendar, MotoGP is attracting Indians and is hoping they would be added in approaching 2 years.

According to Jaypee Sports International officials, the company is to host both F1 and MotoGP racing programme and working to build race tracks. The 125cc bikes will participate in the race and Ten 10 racing team also developed. It is estimated that Yamaha, Mahindra, Honda and Suzuki bikes might be used in this race. Already Mahindra Two wheeler has confirmed participation in the race with its 125cc bike. And before the launch of its Mahindra Mojo in India, the bike has been tested on the race track of Italy.

2011 Suzuki SX4 Unveiled In China

Suzuki China has unveiled the 2011 SX4 at the Guangzhou Auto Show. The new SX4 now features a slightly revamped exterior along with an upgraded interior and added features. However the powertrain of the Suzuki SX4 remains unaltered.

Other than the smart key and DVD playback system for rear passengers, the new SX4 is quite similar to the one sold in the Indian market. The slight aesthetic upgrade along with lots of chrome is a welcome change for the Indian market, which we expect to debut on the SX4 diesel.

Suzuki developed a new Gaming Application

Suzuki disclosing new Kizashi Ring of Fire, the racing game, became the first ever Automobile manufacturer to develop a gaming application for iPads and iPhones. The application is to be made available with iPads and iPhones free of cost being the users just have to download it from Application store. In India, Suzuki has good figure of bikes including Suzuki Slingshot, Suzuki Gladius, Suzuki GS, Suzuki GSXR, etc. The corporation plans to introduce this astonishing games application at various automobile Shows which are to take place in the year 2011 such as Chicago Auto Show, Denver Auto Show, New York International Auto Show, etc.

The Kizashi Ring of Fire is known to be the first gaming application which is implemented with brass monkey remote control technology. The racing game from Suzuki is sure to endorse the product name and also the company's newly developed models for the year 2011. Suzuki is to soon introduce two new models, Suzuki Kizashi SE and Suzuki Sport GTS to its customers in the forthcoming year. The company claims that with the opening of Kizashi Ring of Fire, the people are to experience most wonderful racing game this season being inculcated with features like rips, rides and adventures. The application's best part is that it is available free of cost for the iPads and iPhoines and also is to encourage new Kazashi Sports Sedan of the company and the intercontinental road trip which is to take place soon from Tokyo to L.A.

Suzuki unveils 25th anniversary GSX-R 1000

Suzuki is commemorating 25 successful years of the GSX-R badge with a 25th anniversary special GSX-R 1000s. The final 25th Anniversary GSX-R - a brown and cream GSX-R1000s has been unveiled by the company. The bike is available at a price of £11,000 (about 8 lakh rupees in the UK) and available to order online only through www.imgsx-r.com. There is hardly any difference in terms of technical specifications. There are only a few subtle changes on the bike apart from the paint scheme which distinguish this SE bike from its regular version. The only performance related parts changed are the end cans, which are Yoshimura GP Evo road legal silencers.

There are only 1000 such bikes on sale worldwide. The new paint scheme is unique to the anniversary bikes with a set of wheel rims stripes. You have to pay about Rs 50,000 extra for the SE version in the UK. What for? Well, in material terms, over the standard GSX-R1000, there's a numbered plaque on the headstock, and you get a certificate of authenticity too. Then there is a mention of the SE distinction on the end can and on the central part of the clip-ons well.

Suzuki Recalls 10000 Altos In Europe

Suzuki is recalling close to 10,000 units of the Alto in Europe. The recall pertains to automatic transmission variants only due to a faulty transmission system. The AT variant accounts for 10% of total of over one lakh units of Alto that Suzuki sold in Europe last year. The Alto is produced at Maruti's Manesar plant and is exported to Europe since January last year. The company had recently undertaken a global recall of one lakh A-Stars to rectify faulty fuel pump gasket.

2-wheeler sales in India – March 2010

Hero Honda - Hero Honda sold 414,638 units during March 2010, an increase of 14% over the 353,342 units sold during March 2009. Hero Honda also logged sales of over 4.6 million units during FY 2009-10, a growth of around 24% over the 3.7 million units sold during the previous fiscal. 'Our high growth rate, despite the large base of the previous year, is reflective of the great momentum in our business and the strength of our strategy that continues to yield exceptional results,' said Pawan Munjal, MD and CEO, Hero Honda Motors Ltd. 'With a number of new strategic initiatives in the pipeline, we enter the next fiscal with renewed optimism. We will aggressively expand our presence across new rural, urban and export markets. We are also looking at setting up our fourth plant in the near future,' added Munjal.

TVS Motor - TVS Motor reported a 24% growth in sales during March 2010, at 146,000 units, as compared to 118,000 units during March 2009. TVS sold 1,521,000 units during FY 2009-10, as compared to 1,325,000 units during the previous financial year. TVS' three-wheeler sales increased by 25% in March this year, at 126,000 units, as compared to 101,000 units during March 2009. Sales in the scooterette segment were up 50% in March 2010, at 28,504 units, as compared to 19,054 units in March 2009. TVS' motorcycles sales in March 2010 were up 7%, at 64,120 units, as compared to 59,796 units in March 2009. Exports during the month were up 23%, at 20,067 units, as against 16,340 units in March last year. Three-wheeler exports went up from 650 units in March 2009 to 2,431 units in March 2010.

Yamaha - Yamaha saw a 27% hike in sales during March 2010, at 27,460 units, as compared to 21,571 units during March 2009. During FY 2009-10, IYM sold 290,211 units (comprising of 223,307 units in the domestic market and 66,904 units sold overseas), a 44% increase over the 201,009 units during the previous fiscal. During March this year, IYM sold 17,892 units in the domestic market, as against 14,575 units during March 2009, an increase of 23%. Exports during the month went up by 37%, at 9,568 units, as compared to 6,996 units in March 2009.

Suzuki - Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. sold 21,752 units during March 2010, a 76% hike over sales in March 2009.

Bajaj - Bajaj sold a total of 2.85 million units in FY 2009-10, the highest ever in its history. This includes exports of nearly 900,000 units, also the highest ever in the company's history. The company sold 808,929 units during January-March 2010, an 84% increase over the sales figures for Q4 in the previous fiscal. Bajaj sold 244,828 motorcycles in March 2010, an 85% increase over the 132,253 units sold in March 2009. Three-wheeler sales during the month, at 29,344 units, were up 37% over March 2009.

Maruti Grand Vitara to be Assembled in India

Maruti Grand Vitara has continuously witnessed falling sales in past few months. Maruti intends to arrest the falling sales figures of its SUV model by bringing its advanced version to India. It currently imports the SUV from its Japanese production facility as a completely built unit which makes the model quite expensive. Now the company is contemplating its options to assemble the model in India itself to offer more features at extremely competitive prices.

"The company is seriously considering bringing in an advanced version of Vitara into India, mainly to arrest the falling sales of the SUV," a source said. Maruti is in talks with auto component manufacturers to supply the parts for the model. An advanced version of the model will be introduced in 2010 and Maruti will decide upon its assembling plans for Grand Vitara after assessing the sales figures of the new model. Grand Vitara is currently available at Rs. 16.67 - Rs 17.97 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and comes with 2.4L petrol engine with both manual and automatic transmission.

Upgraded Maruti Suzuki SX4 Launched

Maruti had launched Maruti SX4 in May 2007 to compete with the likes of Honda City which is the most popular and successful sedan in its segment. But Maruti SX4 could not compete with City's superior technology and brand image. At the time of launch SX4 has been very well recieved by indian customers, as it was a true value for money sedan which comes fully loaded with all the features at a very affordable price. But with the launch of 2009 model of Honda City, the sales of SX4 started to decline.

Now Maruti Suzuki India is back with new improved SX4 to make the deal better in comparison to Honda City, Ford Fiesta, Chevrolet Aveo & Hyundai Verna. They have plonked new 1.6 VVT engine in SX4 so that it complies with the strict emission norms which will be in effect from April, 2011 in 11 cities in India.

The new engine is a 1600cc VVT(Variable Valve Timing) powerplant producing 106 Bhp. Maruti has also given some cosmetic design upgrades to the exterior and interiors to make it look more muscular and smart in comparison to Fiat Linea and Honda City. Facelift is a regular one including new front grille, new alloys and spruced up interiors. ARAI has also announced the mileage figures of new SX4 - the manual version willl return 15.5 kmpl while the automatic variant is expected to return 12.5 kmpl.

Maruti Ropes In Madhavan As Brand Face Of WagonR

Maruti Suzuki has roped in Bollywood actor R Madhavan as the brand face for the WagonR as it aims to increase sales of the car in South India. Maruti had carried out a consumer study before signing the actor and his signing would help increase the brand equity of WagonR nationally and more specifically in the southern parts of India. The WagonR has average monthly sales of 12,000 units and a cumulative customer base of 7.45 lakhs.

"We feel that associating with a personality such as Madhavan will certainly reinforce the brand values of WagonR at an all-India level. Going forward, we feel, the brand shall have an exceptional foothold in the Southern market as well. Given the popularity of Madhavan in the South, the masses will relate to the brand more strongly with a local icon becoming the face of the brand," he added.
