Honda Two Wheelers Reported 40% Increase in Sales Last Month
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has reported an increase in sales of around 40% in November this year, compared with its sales in the year-ago period, and is targeting production of one million units in this fiscal.
HMSI sold 63,004 scooters and 37,158 motorcycles in November 2008 - a total of 100,162 two-wheelers - which compares very well with the 72,085 units which the company sold in November last year. This significant increase in sales is, in fact, rather surprising since Honda offers a very limited line-up of two-wheelers in the Indian market.
While companies like Bajaj and TVS have been playing the style and performance cards, trying to woo the urban youth with their racy new bikes, HMSI is happy to coast along with its rather more staid products.
